6 things Psquare must to do to save their dying brand

  • The saying 'two heads are better than one' holds no more truth than in the case of P-Square

1. Stop making those solo projects

Enough already. We have heard about suffering for the art but no one said that the fans have to be the ones to suffer for the foolishness of their idols
. Two is better than no one holds no more truth than in the case of P-Square. As a duo, they complement each other, but we’ve seen the disaster of their solo efforts. Clearly, each is lost without the other. This explains why every solo effort from Paul’s odious, Call Heaven, to Peter’s nonsensical Look Into My Eyes was a flop. Back to back.
2. Fire their brother

Paul, Peter and Jude
Jude Okoye (C) Jude who has been accused of everything from running a business with no structure, to skimming off profits and undue high handedness, now has got to go.

We hate to be the ones to break up a (not so) happy home but Jude Okoye as manager of Psquare has got to go. Blood is thicker than water true, but there is a reason Beyonce fired her father Matthew Knowles as her manager when things got heavy.
There is also a reason those mom managers that used to be popular in music (Usher, Selena Gomez,) are no longer a thing. Sometimes, family should be kept separate from business for the best interests of everyone involved. Particularly with Jude who has been accused of everything from running a business with no structure, to skimming off profits and undue high handedness.
3. Get a proper management/communications team

Psquare
After 15 years in the business the Okoye brothers used their own hands to dismantle everything they worked hard for. They now have to rebuild, all over again.

It should be considered an act of sabotage that a brand as strong as P-Square does not have a dependable structure when it comes to running their business. Whoever has been managing them up till now has quite frankly, been doing a less than stellar job. After 15 years in the business, the P-Square brand should by now, have evolved into a well-oiled machine consisting of various specialised compartments. Branding, communications, endorsements, bookings, etc. All information relating to the duo should be controlled and handled by professionals who know exactly what they are doing. No hacks please.
4. Delete their accounts

Okay maybe not delete their accounts but you know the drill. It was all fun and games when Peter’s Instagram handle was where we went when we needed to get our routine fix of the body beautiful while feeding his narcissistic tendencies but by the time the account devolved to putting out deeply disturbing details of a mind on the brink of a major meltdown, we knew it was time to shut things down. Nothing wrong with tweeting bitter truths, but at least, ensure they are properly constructed. Hastily put out notices of reconciliation do not cut it either. The fans deserve authenticity, but they deserve some respect too.
5. Bring back the music
P-Square became Nigeria’s biggest group act on account of the music. Yes, plenty of it is pure cheese, not entirely original and easily disposable, but the sound is fun, the delivery is acceptable and their videography remains unmatched. Nigeria, nay Africa loves P-Square, and will forgive them anything as long as their music and videos continue to resonate. The twins need to go back to that. A Lemonade style album wouldn’t be a bad idea but if they can’t pull that off, new material, new videos, spectacular live concerts, would be welcome.

6. Evolve or die
Since the last time Psquare released a full album, Wizkid has emerged the biggest thing out of Nigerian music, Davido is hot on his heels and the local rappers have taken over. There is still room for our favourite duo but half-baked singles and derivative beats are no longer going to cut it. Psquare needs to come out, all guns blazing. Their sound needs to be updated, their act needs to evolve and their next project, whatever it will be, needs to be major. They better go hard or go home.
